Hmm. You'll have to explain to me how this isn't a mana ability Equinox. Official rules are so convoluted but it looks like a mana ability to me.

605. Mana Abilities

605.1a An activated ability without a target that could put mana into a player’s mana pool when it
resolves is a mana ability.

I think it meets those criteria.

Actually, seeing as this was first released in Fifth Dawn it was probably intended as an easy way to get the Bringers out without hardcasting them for 9 mana.

this is not a mana ability so you can use Rings of Brighthearth to get 10 mana and play Progenitus fairly easy
