Awwwwwww. XD The faeries threw that Elemental a birthday party...to bad he was trying to fry their faces off at the same time.
A pretty good counterspell for its cost. Also, really good with Hive Mind because it can't counter itself.

I love when people suck at using "strictly worse". This is not strictly worse. It has a tribal type. It can be better. Not usually, but it can be.

this is not strictly worse than dissipate. it is considered as a faerie, so it works with "whenever you cast a faerie spell".

In addition to being the tricksieyest tribe of them all, Faeries excel at removing cards from graveyards with powerful cards such as Faerie Macabre and Puppeteer Clique. The often forgotten Faerie Trickery is another tool in the Fae arsenal which not only counters a spell but removes it from the game entirely. However, due to the popularity of the Faerie tribe, this spell isn't seeing much play in the metagame since it can't counter Faerie spells. If it wasn't for this it would almost always be better than Cancel.

@Sethddickness - as true as that is, 'Strictly worse/better than' should only relate to card that is comparable. EG: Cancel, Counterspell etc...

Wow, this artwork makes you realize how small even the fearies from Lorwyn are (along with Thoughtseize, Advice from the Fae and Splitting Headache), since you normally don't notice that since most Lorwyn faeries themselves have "zoomed in" artworks, unlike Cloud of Faeries for instance.

@The_Stray: Strictly worse than Dissipate outside of a Faerie deck obviously.

Excellent in EDH / Commander, where Fairie cards rarely come up at all, so this card is a superior Cancel in most cases.

@joseph he just wanted to use the "strictly worse than X" disease that plagues Gatherer comments. its everywhere. people parrot the phrase because it sounded smart to them, but they completely misunderstand what they are talking about.

i really only play casually, and this card is great. i've no problems with it, and try to slip a couple in usually.

Strictly worse than Dissipate. But who the hell cares? dissipate hasn't seen print in years, and this one is fun in your tribal deck.
