Kind of a disjunction between the flavor and the effect. Makes me wonder if treefolk are 'fond of' kithkin the same way I'm fond of tuna salad.

Makes me think of Treebeard carrying Merry and Pippin around.

Grotesque flavor or bad design.
Possibly both.

Silly R&D.
This should say, "{T} a kithkin you control: You gain 1 life."
Then it'd line up with the casting cost some, and not have the flavor failure.

@MrBarrelRoll: It's still pretty creepy though, as the kithkin are rather humanlike and sympathetic. On top of that, what kind of ***-poor guardian decides to eat (or whatever other horrible thing it is he's doing to them) his own charges?

Makes me glad the white tribe for Lorwyn was Kithkin instead of Human... otherwise the cost to activate that ability would just be creepy.

7 green mana gets you so much more than this

7 mana isn't worth it for a Leatherback Baloth tied to a (slightly better) Raise the Alarm. It would have been good at 5 and playable at 6.

it's just to costly to ever compare to it's ranger cousin.
