I quite liked this card in Homelands, and was pleased to see it return in Shadowmoor - doubly so that it turned out to still be quite useful, too.

Combos with Grim Poppet. Kinda like a pinger, only nastier and target limited.

As long as you have a way to move this from creature to creature, this is a good way to stop Persist creatures from simply returning to play when killed.

Carnifex Demon likes this.

I once put this on a Jenara, Asura of War, that was fun

After looking at this for the first time I thought, well this doesn't have many uses, if any. But after looking at a lot the cards in the Shadowmoor and Eventide, I realized it does have its uses. It can be used with Flourishing Defenses, Grim Poppet, Grief Tyrant, Leech Bonder, Morselhoarder, Quillspike, Thunderblust, Wickerbough Elder (easy way to destroy artifacts and enchantments with Torture on it), Woeleecher, and I'm sure there's others. Personally I like Grim Poppet and Wickerbough Elder with Torture. So this card does have its uses, it definitely allows for easy generation of -1/-1 counters where otherwise you're limited with sorceries and instants because of the limited supply you can have.

Booo...I loved this card back when it was in Homelands, but I never used. Now I see what a terrible card this is. Sure, throw it in a deck with Kulrath Knight, but there are much better choices, such as scar, or gnarled effigy

You can use this to kill persisters for good. And now it's a wee bit better with proliferate running around.
