Not bad, but a definite slow-down of your curve if you're running 4 of them. I love the flexibility of mana, but if it runs in a deck with other lands which enter tapped, you're going to experience some frustrating early turns.

Still though, an obviously better-than average card.

3.5/5

Nice artwork too!

It's a Bird of Paradise on a land. Simple as that. Only problem is that it can only help fix mana as opposed to ramp it. It's nice, but a tad slow for my taste.

Turn 1 Amulet of Vigor
Turn 2 Rupture Spire pays for itself and you still have one mana open turn 2.

Problem solved.

I play a control/esper deck, so Ancient Ziggurat just doesn't work for me. It leaves me with just that one mana less to play a certain spell (I.e Cancel or Silence) that could decide the game from the beginning. This is slower, but much more versatile. For obvious reasons, using this on turn 2 or late-game makes the most sense to me. Of course, that 1 mana cost is a pain in the butt, and the fact that this card comes into play tapped is irritating as well. Yeah, it definitely has its drawbacks, for example, having no lands but 1 or 2 of this in your opening hand demands a mulligan, or in mid-game when you're letting your spells fly loose, you draw this and can't play it because it costs 1 mana to play; 1 mana that you just can't come through without.

But all in all, for non-aggro decks, I'd give this card a mighty fine 4/5.

I would rather play with pillar of the paruns, ancient ziggurat, or reflecting pool.. however it being a common means its cheap to buy and anytime after turn 1 that you can spare a mana the spire gives you any colored mana land for the rest of the game. I'm conflicted as to whether I feel this is better, or worse, than a simple trace of abundance. Technically, since it comes into play tapped, and you have to pay a mana to keep it, it costs the equivalent of 2 mana. A trace of abundance for the same 2 mana, can be placed on a land that hasn't yet been tapped, netting you an immediate 1 mana gain, that rupture spire simply can't do.

@elisium: ancient ziggurut is rated higher because it is good in zoo znd aggro decks. it doesn't cost you mana. you can use it as soon as you play it.

good in 3+ color decks that aren't aggro. great card in a monoblue deck that steals everything from your opponents. also a good casual budget land.

I like this card, but like said many times before, that 1 mana is a pain in the butt. I would imagine playing it with something like, noble heirarch, or a borderpost.

To Elysiume:
Ancient Ziggurat is definitely less versatile than Rupture Spire, but the ziggurat is more apparent and useful in aggro decks. The spire is also slower; It uses up a turn 2.

Good in 3+ color decks that aren't full-on aggro or aggro at all. 3 stars IMO
