Nice. Prevent 3 damage for 1 mana, or prevent 3 damage and flash in a blocker for 4.

You appear to have misunderstood those rules Oblivax.

First of all, it wouldn't be part of the casting cost as you pay all casting costs as you cast the spell; there are no additional costs after it has been put onto the stack.

Second, the sacrifice is part of a triggered ability created by casting a creature via an evoke cost, that means 'When this permanent enters the battlefield, if its evoke cost was paid, its controller sacrifices it.'

In short, the creature is on the battlefield for as long as the sacrifice triggered ability is on the stack, meaning you can flicker it in response to keep it alive.

The first time i saw someone use a blink to get around the evoke sacrifice, I thought it seemed a little fishy, but i let it pass. If you review the rules, specifically 702.72a, it's very clear that the sacrifice is PART of the casting cost, not a triggered effect. Failure to sacrifice the creature makes the evoke fizzle and the creature goes to the graveyard. It doesn't matter if the creature leaves the battlefield, it still must be sacrificed to fulfill the evoke cost. Any judge that misses this obviously hasn't read the rules closely enough.

I wonder if this art was originally supposed to be for a merfolk? She looks like a merrow.
