I don't think it's *that* bad. I play it in a casual domain jank deck I have and you really can't underestimate the element of surprise. You can't get value out of it before turn 4, which is a problem against fast decks, but ramping into it on turn 4 can obliterate an opponent's hand in the same way as Mind Sludge does.

The most common response I get is "Ouch", five-for-one (and I've had plenty of those) is not to be sniffed at.

The low ratings are amusing to me personally. I have had many people concede immediately to this card on MTGO since I am usually casting it for max turn 3-5 with a turn one suspended search for tomorrow and a turn 2 sakura-tribe elder

By the time you cast this, your opponent's hand will probably only be 2 cards max, usually you can empty your hand by turn 5 with a quick deck. It takes a lot of setup for such a meager effect. Conflux sucked pretty bad...

No, this card is bad. No one has 5 cards in their hand by the time you play this. This is just an expensive Mind Rot. Even Identity Crisis was barely playable, and that also nuked their graveyard in addition to not requiring silly domain conditions to remove their entire hand from the game. The only card worth having 5 land types for is Coalition Victory. You are NOT going to resolve this vs. Zoo. You'll just get run over by a bunch of Wild Nacatls. Now THAT's a domain card.

In my Prismatic Omen deck this guy almost always comes out turn five uncountered and I win.

@Champion_Kitsune: "Conflux sucked pretty bad."

For people who don't like domain, and people who like their games to last less than 5 turns.
Conflux was an awesome set for multicolor, which, while not for everybody, is generally more fun for the Johnnies, Timmies, and Melvins among us.

This card is 5 discard for 5. Few cards give you such a good deal, and any deck that's running Domain almost certainly has some sort of mana ramp, guys. Let's not pretend like it's impossible for this to hit before turn 5.
Turn 4 plays of this card should be common, and turn 3 wouldn't be too hard to set up.

It's Mind Sludge for domain, don't hate it.
