An ancient card that made players think about how to make him huge. This is an excellent creature to give to a new player, and let them figure out how best to get the most out of him.

One of my favorite creatures back in the day - used to play it with Rod of Ruin. Not as efficient these days...

How the hell is it strictly worse? Hydra grows at end of turn. This thing can withstand any amount of Pestilence or Pyrohemia activations

rubber, you are wrong. Tim is prodigal sorcerer. prodigal pyromancer is planeshifted version of him.

Strictly worse than Protean Hydra. But that's mythic. By the way, Tim = Prodigal Pyromancer

I attack with my Fungusaur. Now I cast Sandstorm. At end of combat, I tap my Desert, targeting Fungusaur. One of my favorite casual cards.

Note that he will survive your pestilence (if you are smart about it), but your opponent can kill him with pestilence.
1- Activate Pestilence once.
2- One damage to Fungusaur.
3- Fungu's ability goes on the stack.
4- Activate Pestilence and upon resolution another damage goes on Fungu and he dies as a state-based effect, before counters go on.
Of course, if you control pestilence you can just let the counter go on first, then activate pestilence again.
