Finally, a black removal spell that can kill a black creature. Crying shame it's not instant speed, though, that would have broken this thing wide open, for me at any rate.

This card is really cool, and different, but unfortunately my brother (the person I play with the most) loves green and almost always uses mono-green aggro. He's pretty new to the game so I'm hoping he will broaden up a little haha. So this card is virtually useless 90 percent of the time for me, but it's still a cool card.

Actually I heard Wizards was experimenting with green being the color black can't destroy. Because after all, black mana makes black creatures, why can't it destroy them?

Better than doom blade in most cases, depending on the typical opponent. It is an effective Doom Blade plus Lightning Bolt under the right circumstances. Good stuff. This is a great card as it also allows black creature removal not usually afforded to black. And it is a common!

Not the first black card with "destroy target nongreen creature". Death Rattle.

Destroy target nongreen creature? That seems a bit random.

Nongreen? weird to say the least. Enemy colors normally target each other, not have them as a targeting restriction. Regardless a very nice card, were it instant I would imagine it would see more play than Doom Blade.
