Maybe it could see play in casual The Mimeoplasm Commander decks? Put your juiciest plasmification target in the graveyard and get a 10/10 or something for... 6 mana. Seems like a nice deal to me, but then again I'm a casual player.

Versatile card. Fun if you have madness creatures in your deck, fatties you want to zombify, or if you discard something like Draco. A pity it doesn't gain trample, but at least it gains flying.

keep a set of deep-sea krakens in your deck, it's something you can play, or sac + pump this guy
I actually made a suspend deck /w this guy. it's not unusual to start with a suspended lotus bloom on turn 1, then on turn 3 play this guy, sac lotus bloom for 3 mana, and pay the kicker by sac'ing a 10 cost kraken or even a 15cmc Emrakul, the aeons torn for a 17/17 flyer on turn 3.
