I still like the Magpie, pity it didn't make it into M10.

Quicksilver Dagger would let you draw two cards, no? It's not mono-blue, so maybe Psionic Gift is easier.

@blindthrall
Since when does every deck run non-chump flying/reach? Did I miss something? Plus, it seems like most blue decks should have ways of getting advantage from this guy in most any circumstance.
Yeah, it may get Doom Bladed, but if you're running a creature-based draw engine like this, you're likely using it for a temporary advantage while you work up to something like Arcanis the Omnipotent. So even excluding the possibility of negating the removal spell with a counter or bounce, I'd much rather lose this guy than Arcanis or a leveled up Enclave Cryptologist. I don't doubt your experience with the card, but I don't think it's representative of the card in general.

I tried to make this card useful for a long time. 4cc is just too much, they always either have a blocker or an answer by the time it's actually able to hit them. Very rarely did this net me card advantage.

Really well designed card for blue, does everything you want it to for a price you'll grudgingly pay.
Reprint please!

One of my favorite card arts of all time. But, WHY does this little magpie have a toughness of 3? Should cost UUU and be 1/1 IMO.

I like to use Infiltration Lens with him.
Yes, it's cute. But a lot of times they just don't block it the first turn and you get at least three cards. Plus Infiltration Lens is just good in EDH.
