With a set of this guy and Daru Warchief, you can have a pseudo-affinity soldier deck going. Put in Preeminent Captain for even more acceleration, Enlistment Officer to draw into more soldiers, things like Kor Skyfisher and Eiganjo Free-Riders to reset the Officer, and fatties like Captain of the Watch to sneak out cheaply. Top it off with Crib Swaps for that spot of removal and you have yourself a deck.

Amazing this wasn't reprinted in Elspeth vs. Tezzeret or some other time in the last couple years. Such an awesome card...easily the most relevant of the Bannerets today.

I just love great commons. As a casual player, I dig playing with these kind of cards along with effective uncommons. Beats the hell out of emptying one's wallet...
I'm considering buying the Morning Tide theme deck just because it has 2 of these, 3 cenn's tacticians1 preeminent captain and 2 oblivion rings.

This is the backbone to a Kithkin deck, efficient and works well in soldier decks as well. 5/5 for its versatility, and I just love white weenies.

The ability plus the fact that it's a 2/1 make this pretty decent.

very effecive mana ramping, as it cuts down your mana curve

I personally think this is really good! It's kind of reminiscent of the Scourge warchiefs. Goblin Warchief, Undead Warchief, Etc.

a 2-drop soldier that lowers the cost of soldiers is nuts in my opinion. It doesn't provide team buff like Daru Warchief, but on the other hand it's a lot cheaper.

This got so much better with the printing of Mentor of the Meek. As if, it needed to be.
