This was reportedly meant to be played with Yawgmoth's Bargain in a white-heavy deck. Considering that Standard at the time had Lotus Petal and Mana Vault, it's clear that Wizards did a very bad job balancing this block.

completely underrated. for one mana in a mono white deck you can essentially gain 14 life. heroes' reunion sees more love than this because for 1 green mana more you don't have to reveal anything, don't need cards in your hand and they don't have to be white either. also heals your allies. but there's some key factors to that--you need green mana and it costs 1 more. this is an early turn bomb or the upper hand during a multiplayer stall. i've seen this used by my friend countless times and every time it become a gigantic pain in the ass to knock down the ten life he just gained while his tempo didn't get disrupted because it only cost 1 mana. 3/5
i agree with sonorhC though. i'd rather play martyr of sands. but this was around before that and i never played cold snap.
