Against some decks, running this and Standstill lets you play the latter with an empty field and they'll have to break it.

Looks like this is coming back in M14. I know some people were wondering why this wasn't in Modern Masters. Looks like we got our explanation.

Glad this is getting a reprint. I will finally be able to get one :D It's funny though because in the deck I plan on using it, it is worse than mishra's factory. That deck would be my Tajic EDH deck. It uses lots of wraths so creatures that can avoid the explosions are very much welcome since they can allow me to activate battalion after I blow everything up.

Amusing that both Mishra's Factory AND blinkmoth nexus can pump this.

One of the most obnoxious cards ever printed. That makes it a 5/5 right there.

interesting. If you need something that depends on creature types, you can turn it into a creature just by itself. Plus, it's a manland, so it is great all around.

The fact is, Mutavault doesn't need the tribal synergies to be good; IT'S A MANLAND!
That being the case, not coming into play tapped, and the dozens of practical tribal applications turned what would have already been a great card had it become a typeless manland, into an amazing card.

Mutavault gains all types, not all colors. It remains colorless unless another card gives it a color.
Types and colors are not the same thing.

a cute little thing to do with this guy is combine with cards that would normally have unplayable drawbacks like Mark of the Oni, since it doesn't check until the beginning of the end step.
