I think the reason fabricate is uncommon while this is a rare is because artifacts always had better search (Tinker being the most obvious example). However, enchantments had Sterling Grove or Enlightened Tutor at best, and a lot fewer tricks to get them into play.
However, I do think enchantments are mostly cheaper to cast than artifacts (due to them being colored) and have more powerful one-sided effects. Wizards is actively trying to make enchantments more relevant. Until then...

In desperate need of a reprint. Enchantments need more love.

Here's hoping for M14? (Christ, are we hitting that point yet?)

Really Mode? I thought there were a lot of great enchantments and enchantment-themed stuff comin outta that block. Enchanted Evening, the whole cycle of Demigod auras, two great creature control auras, Curse of Chains and Prison Term, Prismatic Omen, the greatest boon to WUBRG, the Reflection cycle, a bunch of enchants that used tribal types, even an enchant protection from Greater Auramancy. A lot of this was introduced flavorwise because the British Isles mythology was heavy on the glamour(i.e., Glamer Spinners, Glamerdye), which was a type of illusion cast over an individual to make them seem like something they weren't, or better than they were. Enchantments were far from being the Spotlight-Stealing Squad, but they were at least somewhat big in the block.

This card kinda bumps your tempo a little bit. Not enough to disrupt it, though, because what you tutor for is usually worth it. As for me, I usually tutor for Hatching Plans to give me major card advantage (thinning out my deck + lots of draw power)

You missed the best (most ran) enchantment of the block: The mighty Oblivion Ring. It's been reprinted enough, people seem to forget it came from Lorwyn.

One could regard it as a cantrip version of Enlightened Tutor, except that you can't search for artifacts.
But like this, on the other hand, we have a nice counterpart to Fabricate.
Makes me wonder why this is a rare card then, considering that this wasn't an enchantment-themed block while Mirrodin, being the set where Fabricate showed up for the first time as uncommon, was artifact-themed.

Kind of weird that this is a rare when Fabricate is merely an uncommon.
