Wow. This just got really popular all of a sudden.
Well, the "metagame" has sort of turned around, to where this and meddling mage are GREAT, as well as other cards that limit your opponents options.
Really, even if you don't mainboard this, you can sideboard it. Definitely worth the intimidation factor. (Counterbore, though, would be a more pricey but more effective way than this to counter a spell completely.
Maybe I should run a control deck that runs off of permanent counters. This, counterbore, haunting echoes, traumatize, maybe a whole bunch of mill, maybe a guile (if I could get him out), mindlock orb, some boardwipe, if there is any that's the right color, who knows?

Very, very good EDH card. Save U for each potential cast of their commander, and you've effectively stopped what is probably one of their most powerful cards for the rest of the game.
Of course, depending on what they have access to you could get made unstuck by something like Gaea's Herald, Vexing Shusher or Trickbind.
