You can always get a second creature or something else going on turn two but if your mana is running dry for some reason, the ability can make up for a lot in a pinch.
Useful and cool card.

Descendant of Basking Rootwalla. Very nice 1 mana drop.

A one drop that can hit for 3 on the 2nd turn. Granted, there are better things to do with your first 2 turns, but this is pretty good for someone on a budget.

1 for a 1/1 wither with a pretty decent ability, not bad.

Very good in a warrior deck. He's already pretty efficient, but with an Obsidian Battle-Axe in play he can be a pretty strong late-game tool. Drop him in play, put the axe on him, boost him up, and for 3 mana you can send a 5/4 wither into your opponent's face.

I was hoping it had double strike since the name seemed to suggest it, sad.

I think having wither is just gravy; he's an elf, and warrior on top of that, in a color rife with things like Imperious Perfect and Bramblewood Paragon.
