Don't let the typeline fool you; he's one of the best red instants ever printed.

This little guy has killed many a Mutavault and Merfolk lord. So good when the meta-game has shied away from Stifle and Trickbind.

What this card roughly ends up being most of the time:

      Gempalm Incineration 1Red
      Tribal Instant - Goblin

Gempalm Incineration can't be countered by spells or abilities.

You may have Gempalm Incineration deal X damage to target creature, where X is the number of Goblins on the
      battlefield.

      Draw a card.

Lifeform 2/1 — 2Red (You may cast this card any time you could cast a sorcery for 2Red. If you do, it loses all
abilities and becomes a 2/1 Goblin creature spell.)

(Of course the cycling can still be stifled and you won't actually cast a spell,
but when it's put like that, more people might realize how crazy good this card is:
It's a mostly unstoppable — and often deadly — instant speed cantrip burn spell with an alternate creature bonus.)

Could be the best Goblin ever printed. Seriously. He makes any Goblin deck work. For those who don't like his creature stats, good, he will never be cast as a creature. And if he is, that's a bad play on your part. Think of him as an instant that costs 1R that reads "Deal X damage to target creature, where X is the number of Goblins in play. Draw a card." and can be brought to your hand with searchers / drawers like Matron, Ringleader, Wort, etc.

That's basically what he does, and he's one of the best Goblins ever printed. Makes any Goblin deck run smoother, run in 4s, IMO.

"To compare this thing to a gempalm like Gempalm Polluter is ludicrous."

That's easily an overstatement. The two are comparable in that they both have a cycling ability that is dependant on the number of a certain kinds of creature on the field (which makes them both great in mirror matches!).

This is better than Gempalm Polluter in that it generates card advantage, something which the polluter doesn't do, and something which red cards in general don't do.

@Nagoragama, this is not the best gempalm creature at all, this is only ever going to be good as a spot removal in goblin tribal, to compare this thing to a gempalm like Gempalm Polluter is ludicrous, as polluter shoots down life total directly, not counting as "damage" since damage is preventable. Polluter is also in black and is in the tribal class easiest to return from the grave, giving him the power to be a recurring uncounterable life loss cantrip cannon from hell, Lol.

People who claim a certain card is the best of a cycle need to seriously consider the others and what their color can do for it before they voice it outright like that. :P

Probably the best Gempalm creature; you'd never want to actually cast it, but it's a great uncounterable cantrip removal in a goblin deck.

Cheaper than the others to actually play, but still pretty costly considering it'll die if it gets sneezed on. I'm sad though, because I can't think of anything hilarious it looks like he's doing. Closest I can manage is that he's showing you there's nothing up his sleeves before a magic trick, but I'm just not feeling it.
Well played, Luca Zontini.
