That's what I thought, too, but notice it's +4/-4, not +4/+4.
If it were a potential 5/9, it would be semi-playable. As it is it gets to be a 5/1 that no one cares about.

A nice creature since it has the ability to become a nondefender 5/9, the only drag is that it costs 2BlueBlue

Was sooo happy to pull this as a rare out of an old seventh addition pack lying around. Nice fuckin job wizards! Seriously how does this have different rarity levels? I can agree with something like a Serra Angel becoming uncommon, but this is just lame. Let's make it a mythic rare for the next set while we're at it. Yay.
