I've seen this win close games in limited. The effect is overpriced, but the threat of being able to pump one or more creatures makes combat frustrating for the other person. It's pretty obviously bad for constructed.

I agree with SavageBrain. The Reaper King is only half the fun if he's a tribal card for a creature type which offers only a very few playable cards. When looking at cards like this i suppose Changelings are likely still the best choice with him.

The concept of Scarecrows sounds awesome, but if most of them are only faltering alternatives for (multi)colored creatures to evade mana color problems i don't see any reason to play them...

I agree (who wouldn't), this card is worthless. If the activated ability costs three then it should be a mold of Giant Growth that gives a target creature +3/+3, not +1/+1. Really, why did wizards make so many of the scarecrow suck so badly? What fun is Reaper King if all of his minions are weak, unplayable cards?

As the rating shows, this card is godawful. There's no excuse for this to be run under any circumstances. The effect sucks, it's weak for its mana cost, it's an artifact creature and thus subject to double the potential for targeted destruction...It's just crap, period. Its saving grace is the artwork.

A lot of these cards (the Skulkins) look a lot better with the Reaper King, so I'm going to rate this based entirely on working with him. And he sucks. +1/+1 for 3? That's horrible. No.

Lol, he's a 2/2 for three. That's at least a 1.5. The fact that he has a semi-useful ability and type bump him up to 2 in my book.

Such great flavour and atmospheric art on such a bad card... I love the root-like fingers twisted into claws, how their thinness contrasts with the pale yellow - but, yeah, even that can't rescue this card. XD

Compare to Ursapine. Maybe if it didn't have a color restriction, but if you're playing green, you're better off with the beast.
