Thins your deck, the forest comes into play untapped so it doesn't slow you down too much, can tutor for Stomping Grounds and the like, accelerates your mana and it counts as an elf, the extra body to be boosted by Joraga Warcaller or trigger Door of Destinies is always a nice bonus.
If you are running an elf deck with more than one colour and you can afford the Ravnica dual land forest cycle, this card can be helpful mana fixing. Otherwise it's not bad with Howl of the Night Pack or Blanchwood Armor.

Fun with Venser and Flicker-type effects, but they might be difficult to work into a cohesive deck together. For that purpose, I'd use Kor Cartographer. In a normal green deck, this guy kicks butt, especially with the aforementioned Wirewood Symbiote.
