It totally hoses decks that rely a lot on "utility" creatures. And if it does it's job by the end of the opponent's next turn you can just sacrifice it instead of paying the 2 life.

Not good by itself, and its hard to splash it. Also, the upkeep makes me want to avoid using it.

This card sums up the whole problem with the set; a well-intended theme that was overbalanced with an attempt to step away from the power of previous sets. It would only get worse with Fallen Empires and Homelands. Luckily a few outstanding cards came out of The Dark that saved it from absolute obscurity; too bad the two I consider the best cards in the set were never reprinted (Maze of Ith and Preacher).

Works well with creature stealing or Insurrection, but useless if you can't get other creatures to sac.
