Way too expensive to hardcast, but if you can discard him (hopefully gaining some beneficial effect by doing so), his Unearth cost is a pretty good deal. I'm pretty sure that's how the card was intended to be played, seeing as how most Unearth costs are higher than the original casting cost.

not counting the old black one, but it dosn't count, really
What's interesting is that the Devils in Magic are... more like imps, as opposed to D&D where the devils are the ploting smart ones and demons are feral beasts. Generally

If you're getting 3 damage off of the trigger, you're stacking your triggers incorrectly. You want to let Scourge Devil's triggered ability resolve before you resolve Flayer of the Hatebound's triggered ability. 4 damage! Wooo.

Well, Innistrad's brought us more devils. And some of them even have a nice sinergy with this one - specially Flayer of the Hatebound. 3 damage, a hasted 4/3 and +1/+0 for each other creature, all for 3 mana? Seems like a finisher if you have 2 in your grave.

@Kryptnit: thanks, I forgot their abilities stacked. So, it's 4 damage.

It's really fascinating that there are so few devils in print. I saw time for a new tribe and a possible rival to demons . . . but all good things in good time.

There needs to be more devils. They'd be cool as a mainly-red tribe as opposed to the largely mono-black demons. I guess I'll keep my fingers crossed for Innistrad.
