you have to admit... shards block had some VERY unique and interesting cards... i LOVE creatures that penalize your opponents for getting rid of them (even though exile gets around that problem with thrinax but nonetheless... that's still a card out of your opponent's hand!)

6 power for 3 mana. This is exactly why it saw so much play in standard. Not to mention the card disadvantage it offered opponents - "sure you can kill my creature, just keep in mind you have to use at least 2 spells to do so".

Oh man, I just love this guy and how I don't care if he dies. Wrath effects never seemed so weak! ;)

An automatic 4 of in any Jund deck.

6/6 worth of creatures for 3. I'd say that's above the curve.

Probably one of the best cards for a true Jund deck.

@Louisianaxlimey . . . I've seen that card it's pretty awesome, you can see the "sprouting" a lot better actually on that art. I like the art on this card because he looks really tough (which he is lol), but the other one depicts the actually mechanic the card uses a little better. Oh, and it's a foil! All in all, this card rocks man! I love the direction Magic has gone in since I've been out of it. It's been like ten years since I've played and I barely came back about three months ago. But oh man does it feel good to be back!
