Great card, but I can't help but compare her to Vampire Nighthawk... she comes up a bit short on that one.

A viable creature for Esper, particularly since she herself is an artifact creature. I love the flavor of the card, and the artwork is great.

Granted, she ain't the strongest of the cycle, but her thunder got stolen >_>

I, for one, love this card. It may be my inner Vorthos talking, but I'd run a playset anyday!

As beautiful as her sister, if not as effective. Thanks, Chippy, for helping to make Esper a work of art.

Not the best card in the world (there are cards that could be considered better than it). The art on this card however is amazing.

Your comparison is unfair for one simple reason: There are TWO cycles of shard-coloured creatures in Shards of Alara, one of them at common and one at uncommon. This card is actually better than at least two of the cards in its cycle, at least in my opinion.
Carrion Thrash
Kederekt Creeper
Rakeclaw Gargantuan
Waveskimmer Aven
It just happens that between the common and uncommon cycles, there is exactly one three drop for each shard, which Esper has the worst one of.

Personally, I love the Windwright Mage. I play an Esper deck, and it revolves around her having lifelink, (coupled with a nice four-mana enchantment,) and exponentiating her power every time I attack with her. She starts out as a 2/2, but by her sixth attack, she is a 32/32!

I give her a 3 for playability and a 5 for flavor, which averages to a 4.

She shows her colors well, lifelink is white; flying is blue; and graveyard interaction is black. A 2/2 isn't bad, for a lifelinker, who can fly thanks to your courier's or executioner's capsule.

Her size is her final flaw though, as she can't quite compete with Bant's pancake-flippin' Rhox War Monk.

And she has the best I've seen on a card in... ever. Congrats, Chippy. You've done Esper well.

Vampire Nighthawk is better, though not as sexy.

Gatherer works better in the Companion app!
