Blue-red didn't exactly get off to a great start, sadly. Not terrible, but given the damage it inflicts on its controller, this critter is rather risky to use.

I think he means the first enemy off color activation, which is true AFAIK. Also, I like this card, if for no other reason that the first card with an Izzet color identity involves electricity.

Seems rather comparable to Firedrinker Satyr. Each has their own pros and cons, but I think I like this eel more.
Eel requires much more color-specific mana, two colors, and has lower base power. However, it is less risky without the Jackal Pup ability. And for the same two mana, albeit more red-intensive, you get double the profits for the same life cost.
And damnit, I'd much rather look at this thing's face than that of Firedrinker.
