I think Worldwake made this solid limited card an insane equipment in the right deck. And in a deck that is competitive too, not just casual. Because of one card:
Stoneforge Mystic allows you to run this as a 1 of in your deck so you control when you grab it. With a toolbox of other equipment in the deck (Basilisk Collar and Behemoth Sledge in my own Knightfall aggro deck) you can also control what you are grabbing, so if this isn't right for the situation you don't even have to grab it.
But let me tell you, when it is the right time to grab the Adventuring Gear it is a game changer that wins games the next turn or two.
The synergy this offers in the deck I'm running in particular is crazy.
The deck uses Knight of the Reliquary to pop out two fetch lands a turn (one for my land drop, another from the Knight). A creature equipped with this is automatically getting +8/+8 from that.
And what creatures ... (see all)

Decent in limited. Otherwise, it is much too narrow.

This is a nice, simple piece of equipment that gets stupid good in limited, especially if you slap it on a creature like Plated Geopede that already has Landfall +2/+2. Crack a fetchland to attack with with a 9/9 on turn three? youch! (I did manage to pull a 17/17 geopede, and clear the way with burn off the extra Harrow lands at the pre-release)

Equip on your favorite moonfolk to fly over after you abuse them both with Azusa, lost but seeking or possibly a fastbond.

Anyone who says it's useless or lame just doesn't know how to play it right.

nice little equipment, in green this can give +6/+6 every turn. really nice for just 2 mana.

Useless card! Trusty Machete is just as cheap casting AND is always on. Although it is possible to activate it more than once on your turn you will regret the 0/0 during your opponent's turn.

An ok equipment, but of course if you don't have any lands it doesn't do anything. Good thing is that it's cheap.

Strong in limited. Rarely worth an extra card slot otherwise. +6/+6 every turn is unrealistic although it can burst to that. More realistic even in a deck built for it is +2/+2 every turn with occasional boosts higher.

Very fun with Steppe Lynx, Plated Geopede, or Windrider Eel. BAM! I hit you for 4 on turn 3. BAM! I hit you with a 5/5 first striker on turn three. BAM! I hit you for 6 in the skies. Not the most aggressive strategy, but one that will definitely hurt your opponent.
BTW, on a budget Terramorphic Expanse acts likes a fetchland.
