White didn't have so much definitive creature removal that was so cheap until, I think, Oblivion Ring... White removal should be restricted or non-definitive, and surely not so cheap and easy to use... Nowadays white removal are surely more powerful and cheaper than the black ones. Don't have even restriction of any sort! And stop saying that this is fair because Swords to Plowshares was in alpha, because even Ancestral Recall was, as already said! So why not reprint Ancestral?
I think that white removal should be like Devouring Light (or damage based), only for ATTACKING creatures, not blocking... I mean: how the color of justice punish people that want to defend itself?
Increasing this card's mana cost by could have made this card a lot more balanced, at least...
3/5

So amazing, love it. :)
5/5 seems broken, isn't really.

@ax_morph: None whatsoever. They introduced (or was it reintroduced? Not sure really) the word "exile" after the Alara block as shorthand for "remove from the game".

Sorry I got rid of your fatty. Here's some land.
It's especially fun when your opponent doesn't have any basic lands, which given that so many Modern players run fetchlands and shocklands, isn't as unlikely as it was when this card was made.

So which is better, Swords to Plowshares or Path to Exile? This is an opinionated topic, so here's mine. If it were draft, Swords would get the edge, in that scenario, 9 times out of 10 you'll be using this only on your opp and i'll gladly give you 1-6 life over a free not to forget ADDITIONAL land. With that said however, I do believe that this card, when properly built around, CAN an often will be more dangerous.. This logic seems to be a trend in MTG these days (bringing back old powerhouses, changing the name and giving them an ability with a clause that only makes them better than their predecessor in the right scenario(s), a prime example of this would be Avacyn Restored's "Miracle" cards). Any whoo, putting this card in the right deck could give you added speed in the event you find yourself mana screwed but also be your source of removal with a tolorable drawback (I say tolorable because the majority of the time, if you're going to give your opp 1 additiona... I use Archive Trap for my path to exile in my miller deck! I love them 2 cards together!

Peculiar synergy with cards such as Memory Lapse. I Lapsed my friend's copy of Mirari's Wake, and then pathed one of his creatures. He then realized what just happened while he was searching for his land.

one of the very few decent cards in Conflux, of course by 'decent' I mean, 'This belongs in almost any deck that can run it ever' cards
