It's not a great card, but I think it's underrated. Maybe because it's phrased like this instead of "Discard your hand. Put three cards from the top of your library into your graveyard and draw four cards." Which is essentially the same. And in the right deck (hello, Grixis colors? graveyard shenanigans anyone?), feeding your graveyard with 3+ cards in addition to the card draw just might be worth the higher/more mana-intensive cost. By the time you'll usually be casting this, your hand will probably be quite small anyway.

I wondered why it didn't just have you draw four cards before I realized it was Grixis.

wish this was target player, would make it more interesting. still five mana to draw four cards is not too bad, and great with any graveyard recursion, reanimation retrace flashback etc. etc. its the multicolor requirement that hurts its playability.

I don't think the mana cost hurts it as much as the random discard.

Why are people so hung up on the random discard? If you have no way to benefit from having cards in your graveyard you wouldn't play this card. Sure it would be better with chosen discard but "Discard your hand. Draw four cards." would be worse.
The Megrim/Underworld Dreams combo would work by using Hive Mind

At instant speed it could be the bomb. As it is, you will not be able to do much with the new cards after paying five mana for this.

i agree the random discard is the weekness of this card,and it may be the only weekness because imagin if u have one card in your hand and u are out of strategy,this can help a lot ,but still this random discard is a very serious setback

Other people seem to have been unconvinced by this card but I like it a lot. I've had a very hard time making an unearth deck which wins and this card boosts any such deck, no question.

@davidhuman:
If this was target player it would be murder with the Megrim / Underworld Dreams combo. If they had a hand of 4 or so, they would take 21 damage. Alternately, 2 Megrims would deal 28 damage.
