This card definitely has powerful potential. With the correct set up of creatures and spells it can easily machine gun almost every creature your opponent(s) control.

The ability on Deathbringer Thoctor's ablilty won't tigger the ability on the spike, but, you still get the deathtouch. Use that to clear out any possiable blockers, then attack and that will tigger it.

To Tezz: To answer your tokens to GY question, unless the new rules changed this, when token creatures die they first go to the GY then are immediately RFG'd, so the ability triggers. Regarding the playability of this card, if you have the right combo (and there are more than one) it can be devastating, otherwise it's not much of a game changer IMO. I think it works better in Jund colors that Grixis.

Quietus Spike would be quite lovely with this guy, as would Fists of the Demigod if you are on more of a budget. He does need a little bit of something to get started with the +1/+1 counters, though.

Other than the fact you can wipe out all the 1/1s on the board this card doesn't seem all too great. Of course I see some great combo potential but other than that it's just a 1/1 wiper which isn't all too amazing except against token decks. 4/5 just for the fact of the combo potential.

play a darkritual and play this suker early, then shock/terminate a creature, and hold on cuz is fairy mowdown heaven! Like the Wild Bunch!Elves pay dearly as well, oh and dont frget goblins! In a big multigame, there are alot more targets. Or store up some counters over a couple turns and nail 'em for Big, or wack his creature and attack him.

This card is a 3/3 creature for 6 mana. Horrible ability. Seriously, how many creatures are gonna die after turn six? How many TURNS are there gonna be after turn six?

I would follow up this card with Malfegor, then no matter in 1-on-1 or multiplayer, this thing would be huge and you could potentially either attack for big dmg or maching gun them directly in the face with it, or even better, do both. Of course machine gunning creatures is a great way to go too, but if you use the above combo, you could end up doing alot more dmg. that way.
