Make festivals, not war.

Maybe not as good as Holy Day in a pinch, but it works great with or against some cards.

Cards like Angel's Trumpet, Arcum's Whistle, Erg Raiders, Mad Dog, Maddening Imp, Oracle en-Vec, Siren's Call, and the like.

The idea is that people don't attack one another during Festivals. It doesn't make sense with stuff like fish, bears, etc... but in a planeswalker duel its supposed to be two sentient beings fighting. So the planeswalkers are the ones in the festival, not the creatures. And you celebrate during festivals, not fight. Similiar to how soldiers on the first Christmas on the front-lines of WWII didn't fight one another in several locations...

Great with those older cards that kills creatures "if they didn't attack". Otherwise, its another fog-like effect.

Not as good as Holy Day IMHO. Holy Day can be used as a panic button against green combat tricks and has the nice side effect of leaving your opponent's attackers tapped.

Still this is one of those brain-bombs Doug Beyer talks about in his July 22nd (09) article. What is the purpose of the festival? How does it relate to stopping major combat?

Not bad, but Holy Day/Fog are better because you can play them after the attack has already been declared, leaving your opponent's attacking creatures tapped.

@NARFNra:
No, it doesn't combo with Season of the Witch, because SotW only destroys creatures that could have attacked but didn't. Siren's Call works, Nettling Imp, etc. work though because they destroy creatures even if they couldn't attack.
