Storm Crow is impervious to this card's valiant, yet paltry efforts.

well comes into play untapped and provides mana, you'd think it would see more play.

Not bad overall, but compared to the other alliances "sacrifice a basic land" lands, it's not that good.

Compare to Lake of the dead, kjeldoran outpost, or heart of yavima

no wait, the oracle text makes this into an infinite loop, if it would come into play instead sac a mountain and put it into play... which means it would come into play triggering it's first ability again...
original wording made SO much more sense.
plus with the orignal wording it at least came into play even if you didn't sac a mountain (would trigger landfall) and if you had a way to make your lands indestructible you could keep it.
since those mechanics are newer I guess they were trying to avoid them but for the indestructible lands thing they could have just changed it from bury to sacrifice.

It's a Desert you don't have to wait to use until after combat. Almost justifies the mana cost in the ability, but frankly I think the sacrifice cost is more than enough to offset it.

I still use one in a deck I have though, but only one.

There's not much of a downside to this guy. Sure, you'll lose some colouring, but that shouldn't matter unless you're playing lots of firebreathing creatures, in which case this card is way too defensive for you anyhow. It might work in a red-blue control.
@Supershawn: Replacement abilities only occur once. Otherwise Thought Reflection would make you lose immediately. The wording is changed because you could tap it for mana before sacrificing it. You could have two mana on turn one, for example. That wasn't the original intention of the card, but that's how the original wording works with the current rules.
