Crossbow Infantry can't take care of that 1/1 Wizard who counters all your spells, or sink the last javelin into you opponent with 1 life.
This guy is an awesome way to take care of problems with 1 toughness, that leaves you with a standard 1/1 Soldier when it's done.

Crossbow Infantry is not better. Crossbow infantry does not come out first turn and cannot kill the plethora of one-drop utility creatures that don't attack (birds, elves, hierarch, etc etc), thereby ruining their early game strategy.
It's a shame these Javelineers never got decent artwork. Who taught Corky here how to throw a spear? Seriously, what's up with that pose?

I also play this in my exile deck with cards similar to Nouth's. Also, playing proliferate with such old cards makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

A mono-white must have against most of the tribal deck (goblins, elves, ...).
He :
* is T1
* kill any */1 creature (unlike all other white blast who cares only of attacker/blocker)
* block and kill a */2 creature (Tap it after blocker declaration).
* is a soldier, a quite common tribe.
He deserves at least 4 for a white guy.
I play 4 of it in my exile deck. he's fast, slow down my ennemy and i can refuel it with the many leave/enter battlefield spells like momentary blink, stonecloaker, riftwing cloudskate, Galepowder Mage, Flickerwisp
