Odd that the green version (Mortal Wound) is currently rated lower than this. This in black is outclassed by mostly everything. This in green is some of the only removal that colour has access to.

Don't see how people think this is bad.

Yes, there are plenty of "Destroy target creature" effects in B. But you have two kinds of threats when it comes to your opponent's creatures: the big guys that stomp you into the ground, and the little guys that sit there and kill you without attacking you. Why spend Doom Blades and Hideous Ends on the big guys when you can pay B to drop this on them and kill them with your little 1/1 while saving the Destroy spells for their non-attacking threats?

I don't get why this is rated so low. For 1 mana, you can give an enemy creature an inverse deathtouch? BOOHYEAH!

Fatal Blow in enchantment form.
And notably a planeshifted version of Mortal Wound as well.
Yet given that black as opposed to green has many other ways of getting rid of creatures, i wish it could also inhibit regeneration, though...

well if you run red/black you can have a few of those on the bigger creatures on the field...perhaps a few Yoke of the Damned then whenever something's about to go down you let loose a Seismic Shudder and lets more than a few creatures in one fell swoop

Very good card. You cna get rid of any big or annoying creature with it by blocking it with a simple 1/1 after this.

4 of these & 4 of that hornet sting green card would be ok I guess.. For the green card that seemed pointless until I saw this.. Although, there's plenty of 2 drop removals that would save room in your deck. But it has it's appeal in that it can target any color/artifact creature you want it to. Yah I'm reaching.. Oh well.

useful only if you are playing mono-black and are trying to get rid of an opponents black creature and you really like auras

Only usable in sealed. Waste of a card in constructed when compared to Doom Blade or Terminate

Disfigure is certainly better at this mana cost...
