Ye gods, this card bugs me.
Combo'd with Merfolk Sovereign, you've got an army of nigh-unstoppable creatures.

oh my god what if you used this card with a grimoire thief?
if you had enough milled cards from the thief and used his ability, would that work to make like a ton of tokens?

Awesome card. being able to counter a spell by tapping seven creatures is strong, even if they are restricted to Merfolk. It would take a while to build up the merfolk, since you would need alot fo counter spells and have Lullmage Mentor in play for a while, but if it can be use, I see it being strong.

@clefaria; what he meant was, apparently, that if you have seven merfolk, its good to have guile to do something with the spell you are countering.

I never get to 7 merfolk but that's ok, he is GREAT bolt bait. I just use him to demoralize the opponent and get tokens off of lapse of certainty.

Fun in my merfolk deck.
Rite of Replication kicked on this is hilarious. Especially if you happen to have 2 in play already.
Quest for Renewal for maximum tomfoolery.

Brutal, just brutal. A playset for any merfolk deck that even considers control options. Merrow Commerce will guarantee that this option is always open during your opponent's turn.
I wish Infinite Reflection worked with tokens, because then you could enchant this guy and make a geometrically-increasing number of copies every time you counter something. Oh well.
