@Ficitonarius: I'd imagine not. You might want to check with someone with more experience in complicated rules, but from the sound of it, it's a case of "even if the original source is gone (that is, the hellkite in this case) the ability still resolves once it's on the stack". So even though you're now the controller, the ability went on the stack with the original controller having the choice as to how the damage is divided, and I can't imagine that would change as they put that ability on the stack.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned where ancients tread.. double 5 anytime your hellkite enters play, that would be amazing. Especially paired with torrent of souls during a revival giving it +2/0 and haste, or a paleoloth wouldn't hurt either.

@andrew, godsire is an 8/8, you can't kill it with the hellkite unless you block with it.

@ GooberSnotpants and @Kitoudark

Actually what Goober said is not quite correct. Just to be sure I'm clear, Windstorm cannot be cast until after Bogardan Hellkite enters the battlefield. When the Hellkite enters the battlefield its own ability triggers and goes onto the stack before anything else can happen (in this particular scenario anyway). Then you can in response with the Windstorm, and the Windstorm will go onto the stack on top of Bogardan Hellkite's trigger. Provided nothing else happens, the Windstorm resolves first and deals 5 damage to the Bogardan Hellkite, killing it. However, where Goober is incorrect, is that the Hellkite does not check for itself again upon resolution. The ability of the Hellkite is still on the stack and will still resolve and deal 5 damage divided as the controller of the Hellkite chooses.

Sorry Kitou, you still get burned even if you Windstorm the pesky dragon.

In order to make Bogardan Hellkite check for itself still being on the battlefiel... (see all)

This card is crazy good in dragonstorm decks. Other than that, it's just too expensive.

It shouldn't be mythic rare, but it's still pretty good

I simply enjoy flashing this into play as they play a life gaining spell.

@Volcre - Its mythic because dragons are a tribe now. Try using Dragonstorm to pop three of these out of your library at once! =D Now, If it only had Haste...

you can't see this card being good!? It has flash, play it on their turn as they are attacking to (most likely) kill an attacker, direct 5dmg to them and then return the attack next turn. That's 10 dmg from a single, albeit expensive, card that should seal the victory late in the game.

Yes there may be better dragons but this with flash ability in late game, whoo creepy... it can end the game: imagine you were about to cast a spell then this dragon swoops right in front of you....... ending: toasted... run this in Dragonstorm deck and this will definitely be in its highest level...
