Surrakar Spellblade says hi and thank you. Also, Plated Geopede before the fetchland is a good choice too. I can see R/U pulling some tricks in this set with Splinter Twin, Crab Umbra and this guy doing fun stuff all around.

After printing Dwarven Warriors, Dwarven Nomad and Crafty Pathmage, Wizards finally realized that they could drop the mana cost of these by 
.
And yet, a simple one-drop could still do the job without being over the curve.
We would have some sweet Johnny tool, but not something Spike could fall in love for.
But i like the reduced cost for this guy nontheless - and the fact that Wizards decided to let red have this tool once again.

I'm starting to realize this little guy's fantastic potential in Limited. The aforementioned Valakut Fireboar seems like the best case scenario, but in common, Battle-Rattle Shaman is another excellent workaround for the 2-power limit. Fun card!
