Shades are not great outside of limited because they're creatures that demand that you commit atrocious amounts of {B} to them for them to be big threats. They don't even have built-in protection or additional mana sink abilities to make them more useful. However, Stromgald Crusader, and Order of the Ebon Hand do. Stillmoon Cavalier does it very successfully.

Perfect for Bono, Elton John, and others who like expensive shades.

It's a shade for not monoblack decks. It's not bad really.

By itself, a bad card, as in worse than Looming Shade. With Training Grounds, it can be pretty devastating... However, I think I'll stick with the old shades.

This is a good card when played right. UB Training grounds and you can pretty much make it a 8/8 easily. 3.5/5

Shades generally only have value in draft, where curves aren't quite so smooth and a large, albeit expensive, attacker can prove useful.

This loses so bad to Crypt Ripper, and the ripper isn't even that good.

Crypt Ripper requires too much black mana. This can be splashed more easily. Of course, with an activation of , making this a Scathe Zombies wouldn't have hurt. But ROE limited is so strange it might be just fine.
Outside, of course, easily the worst shade ever.
