Remember, folks, you can tap it after you block with it.

Being easy to cast in multicolored decks and actually being able to survive the Bolt nails this 2.5/5 from me. The tap ability is just icing on the cake, but it's not enough for me to rate it any higher. I use one of these in a casual red-white-green defender deck, so it's more or less decent because it doesn't care what colors of mana I have available, and it can usually stall the game a little while I'm waiting to get the right mana.

a very useful artifact for buying time. also these with other white spells can be used to help a deck built around near death experience. i liked it as a cheap defender that could continually service me with the tap ability after the block

It's ability kinda-sorta means that it can block as a 0/5, or it can keep that Blighted Agent or Thieving Magpie from pecking you to death.
Still very bleh, but I wouldn't be ashamed to take it in the middle of a draft pack.

This card probably could've gotten by with a CMC of 2. If it had a CMC of two, I would've accepted it at uncommon. Right now, it's a tad sad compared to similarly costed creatures. However, it hits the field turn three no matter what colors you have, and it does keep you alive longer, and isn't that what walls are for?
It's an untargeted damage prevention, for when your opponent has an inconvenient unblockable that you aren't equipped for. Even better, for when your opponent is running Infect or Wither, and you can let some pass without eroding your guys.
They're better in groups. Get two or three out at the same time, and you don't even have to block the guys that mess you up when you do.

.5/5 I could not even see myself playing it in limited defender deck. :

Meh... underwhelming. The 3CC is what really makes me want to avoid. You can 1-drop 0/4 creatures now, and compared to something like Overgrown Battlement it is clearly not as good.
1.5/5

Pretty much entirely outclassed by Steel Wall. Almost strictly worse since its ability is pretty much rubbish in all but a rare circumstance.

Even after thinking about it, this is underwhelming. Would've been playable at , right now it's just...not worth the cost.
