You lost the little respect you had when you said Tinker. Do you know what tinker can do? It can turn an Ornithopter into a Darksteel Colossus. It can turn a Memnite into Sharuum the Hegemon. A Phyrexian Walker into an INKWELL LEVIATHAN! If there's any non-power 9 card worth being so rare, it's Tinker.

@Guest######: You've obviously never been on the recieving end of a wizened Tinkerer :P there's much scarier things than Darksteel Colossus in the depths of the Magic Library.

I agree with Kryptnyt and Lateralis0ne, but putting that aside, Mythic Rares doesn't need to be godly powerful. Mythic Rare is a rarity that is often times given to creatures or spells because they are unique in some way or another, and it gives them a certain feel to it.
As an example, the first 5 Planeswalkers was printed in regular rare, but were then upgraded to Mythic Rare status because it fitted their character better. Another example is Platinum Angel, which messes with the fundamentals of the game (winning and losing), and yet another Mythical creature is the new Abyssal Persecutor. Also, Hellkite Overlord is Mythic Rare, despite the fact that it's so expensive that people can rarely play it unless there's some trick to it (Elvish Piper, Dramatic Entrance, etc.)
Cards like Goblin Lackey have made insane plays possible, and therefore deserves Mythical Rare.

They made these cards Mythic Rares simply because at one point in time they dramatically changed the face of magic game play, all of which being restricted or banned in various formats.
Although, It's obvious you know nothing about how these cards could have been and in most cases, still are ridiculous.

How can you not like this card? Especially in a Goblin (WOW, obvious much?) deck. It would be fun to have this on my first turn, then pull out a Mudbutton Torchrunner for some added defense.
