The really cool thing about this card, though, is that its like a forcefield at uncommon.
Also, story circle won't save you from Darksteel Colossus or his new brother Blightsteel

Story Circle also can't stop colorless damage (big artifact creatures or Eldrazi).

Incredibly powerful card in EDH.

It stops General damage outright, it stops lifelink (since the damage is never dealt), it stops "damage everyone" effects like Earthquake, Inferno, etc.

This card is close to a Forcefield in power, and yet is generally considered a forgotten common.

I disagree. Righteous Aura is less expensive to play and you can prevent any source (not just of a certain colour).

If some huge creature manages to break through your defences you'll be clad this righteous card is on the table (plus some available white mana off course). Also works well if you have some "damage everything-spells" in your deck. You'll be like: Nuh-ah. Not me. Just you.

I remember getting a bunch of these out of Visions boosters, looking at them and going "why wouldn't I just use a Circle of Protection? Who wants to pay 2 life to prevent damage when I could just prevent it all?"

Yeah, I was pretty dumb back then. This card has saved me so many times I've lost count. Prevent all damage from ANY source, not just of a specific color/etc. like Story Circle. The uses are innumerable.

Good to use alongside Story Circle, I suppose. Between the two you should have all your bases covered.

this in my life gain deck lol. loose 2 life to stop a steel hellkite, and its effect doesnt activate. my turn oh wait i gain 6 more life from various sources. hehehee
