I love the new artwork, but by today's standards this card looks distinctly underpowered (I'm surprised it was even reprinted). I guess it's more splashable than other angels out there?

@Tiggurix: It's nice to see someone using "thees and thous" without obvious mistakes. Like adding an eth suffix to a NOUN. Thou charmest mine ears, and thy skillful play of language consoleth me.

Comparing it to Shepherd of the Lost makes it look terrible. 3 life does not equal first strike and vigilance, except under the most dire of cirkumstances.
And I only misspelled that because it would have censored me had I not.

I'm not terribly fond of this card, and I started in Masques. Even then, 5 for a 3/3 flyer was too much, and the 3 life doesn't do too much. I can pay 3WW and get 3 life once, or I can pay 1BB for a Nighthawk and net at least 2 life, and maybe even one of their creatures. (And before you tell me that they are different colors, think of which color of the two should be better at gaining life..) Overall the efficiency of this card isn't very impressive.

Ah, how I love thee, Angel of Mercy. Thou hast served with excellency in my many duels with my most esteemed brother, and whilst thy sisters are often of greater power and fortitude, thou shalt always have a special place in mine heart.

Nostalgia aside, this is pretty weak compared to its direct competitors, Serra Angel and Shepherd of the Lost. I think it's time they changed the rarity on this to common. Or at least gave it an upgrade of some kind, like Lone Missionary vs. Venerable Monk. for 2/3 Flying and 6 life? Could make a difference. At least then it's more life than you'd get from a single attack with Baneslayer.

it's good at being what it is: an introductory card, something a new player can easily grab onto. And although other cards outshine it at every turn, it's not bad, and kind of cool.

I dont think this card is bad for an uncommon. I wouldn't take it to a tourney, I wouldnt play it with a "serious" casual crowd, but if I were building a budget deck, or something to get my wife into the game, i wouldnt mind having this angel fill a spot. Love the new art.
