Grab as much of your opponent's stuff as you possibly can, plus one mountain, then drop Brand.
It only works the first time but it's terribly cruel.

This is fun :)
But I can think of cards I'd rather have in hand if I had RRR4 untapped.

It's obviously not as even as it looks, since you can pick first and choose the best permanent.

This looks like a lot of fun... and frusteration.
I don't think creatures with shroud and/or protection are immune from this... but...
Wait a moment. Would those creatures that are immune be untargetable by you?
Let's take Algae Gharial for example. The sorcery doesn't target it, so it gets exiled. Now, you have to choose it to get it. Wouldn't that count as targeting? If so, this spell can counter shroud creatures!
However, i am not very adept in playing with both abilities/cards. Someone, help?
PS. Thanks a lot scumbling1. That clears a lot for me in the future.

This tocks if your opponent has one big creature.

@ Ferlord: The word "target" is never used anywhere on Thieve's Auction. This means that none of the card's effects can be prevented with shroud. Choosing is not targeting; targeting is never implied.
Besides that, shroud is an effect that only works for a permanent that's on the battlefield. Even if Thieve's Auction did target cards, you could still target exiled permanents with shroud.

Could work as another warp world type effect in EDH.

This looks fun, but I do not normally play {R}, so I will wait until I stumble on to a {U} card on this site that can do something similar.
