Come on guys, are you really reserving 3RR mana for the chance when someone fetches a land to use this?

Galvanoth makes this card quite fun. But I feel like I can sooner & easier abuse Kuldotha Flamefiend for the same effect. Maybe fun with Explosive Revelation

you've just activated my trap card! in response to you playing extra lands, Im going to tap out!
bwa ha ha!
what's that? you say those lands were just extra, that you didnt care about the mana, just the landfall?
what's that? you say that those creatures are getting enough bonuses from each other to survive 4 damage?
so your saying I just completely wasted my card, time and mana.....screw you.

Wildfire's back baby! (but a little bit weaker)
Maybe red will get control again someday? Chandra Ablaze is definitely a good start either way...

Underrated, IMO. 8 CMC is high, especially in red, but in multicolor decks (mostly R/G), this has potential as a great boardwipe spell that stops everything short of, unfortunately, Baneslayer Angel. The dual LD is what makes it worth the 5/8 mana to cast. It can wreck White Weenie, Eldrazi Green, and a lot of decks that are based on creature spam or lands.

You could, theoretically, force your opponent's land drops by bouncing their lands. Maybe combo Blue/Red with Parallax Tide: Turn 4, drop the Parallax Tide, wipe your opponent's lands (making sure that by the end of his turn you have no Fade Counters left on the Parallax). Turn 5, you sac the Parallax tide and return your opponent's lands to the battlefield, then drop your 5th land and play Lavaball Trap. In the end, you're opponent is down 2 lands, skipped their 4th or 5th turn, there are no creatures to attack you, and you are guaranteed card advantage.

Why would you use this to punish fetch lands when it's so much easier to just use it with Path to Exile?

Seems like this would go well in a RG manaramp deck with Veteran Explorer. (Preferrably holding some Bequeathals...)
What other cards gift lands to an opponent?

I like the targeted LD aspect it has over Wildfire, but beyond that all it really does of note is punish fetch lands.
