Fictionarious, it would be, but those lands remain as basic lands, and therefore can not be destroyed by Dust Bowl.

Rumor has it this was considered for reprinting in Tenth. Crucible of Worlds being selected for the set (by popular vote) was what is suposed to have kicked this out, as the lock formed by the two is just too strong for both cards to be allowed in the same core set.

Note, for one thing, the reason this is good over Wasteland or Ghost Quarter is the ability to sac a land other than itself. No other non basic land killing card can do this.
The sacrificed land can be one of the ones you used to activate the '3' ability. So it is basically a Stone Rain, on a stick. I've talked to many people about this land, and I've been surprised how often they miss that. It doesnt need 5 lands including itself in play, needs only 4. So if you're at a sweet spot of 3-4 lands, it works fine. Likewise, Lake of the Dead's second ability effectively taps for 5 mana, not four, you'd have to be silly to not tap the land for mana before sacrificing it . Its got a very generous mana curve for a what is effectively a Wasteland millstone for only 1 more mana than it takes to activate Millstone.

In conjunction with Illusionary Terrain and Clockspinning, this would be unfathomably beautiful win.
edit: Four of these to take out your opponent's nonbasics as they drop into play, Illusionary Terrains to render the basics useless. Obviously less effective the more nonbasics your opponent has, the more radiant their deck is, and the more artifacts they have to play.

Poor man's Wasteland; not bad! (and repeatable! And colorless!)

REALLY good next to Garruk Wildspeaker and anything that increases land drops, primarily Primeval Titan, Veteran Explorer, and Viridian Emissary. One can even tutor this with the titan. By the time you hit 6 lands (including this) you can nab 2 of their lands per turn between your little guys or the titan.

Very quickly gain board advantage. Be sure to sac your non-basics to this so your opponent can't retaliate with Wasteland; not that they should want to at that point.
