Forget Prodigal Sorcerer, this is the real Tim.

If you equip this guy with a Loxodon Warhammer, you get a powerful beater that puts your opponent on a four-turn clock. To make sure you're knocking out one-fourth of your opponent's life with each swing, and keep him protected, you can equip him with Whispersilk Cloak. Yeah, that's kinda corny, but...
...there are two kinds of people in the world, those who are currently wondering who the heck would write such an idiotic comment encouraging the use of a fine-tuned turbo-fog control-deck icon as a badly-costed generic 2/2... and those who realized I was building an Angus Quarter Pounder with Cheese.

I've been playing magic for 12+ years and haven't seen this card until today. Pretty funny dude. Toss him in a deck with some ways to protect him (pemmin's aura + countermagic?) and he should be able to provide a soft lock. He's actually probably much better now then when he was originally printed....now that we've all seen first hand that Turbo-Fog decks can and do win - plus the land is a lot better.
He'd be a really annoying EDH general - especially in multi-headed team games where attack phases are shared.

One of a few original legends who haven't been completely obsoleted by more recent OP creations.

One of the better Legends legends, and almost broken in combination with Gideon Jura. I love when old cards combo with new ones! Gonna make a Gideon Mackenzie deck!

Repeatable Fog/Holy Day each turn on a 2/2 three drop sounds very appealing despite the tricky three-color-cost.
Yet if you're running a mono-green deck or don't want to bother with colors that much, you might consider using Dawnstrider instead, which can do the same, but at the typical Spellshaper cost which requires discarding.

I think he got murdered by Lady Orca, according to her flavortext.

My indestructible myr EDH deck of these colors had an issue with being over-run - my guys would never die, but they just couldn't block enough. Now, I have the perfect General to deal with attacks.
Death is not an option.
