Just because there is a better card out there doesn't mean that this one sucks... it's just not as good as the said card. It's like if I said Doom Blade is a poop card because terminate is clearly better. (although that is taken to the extreme end of things.)

This is a good card and deserves at least a 3.5. Just because a card is "obsolete" (which isn't completely true since you can only have so many Doom Blades in your deck) doesn't mean it's bad. The extra one colorless mana required to cast this doesn't make an amazing card terrible.
