It's because the Portal sets, such as Three Kingdoms, which this was from, didn't have Instants.

The errata makes this a decent card. No limitations other than it be attacking you.

What I think is funny about this card, is that it was printed as a Sorcery, even though the ability has to be an Instant to work. Granted, the errata fixed that, but I wonder how the mix up happened.

The same goes for "Just Fate" in the first portal set. Odd.
