Due to the aberrant Oracle wording you are right thaviel,
but when taking a look at Farseek you'll notice that it could actually have a slight but important difference since you could for example also search for dual lands.

No. The Oracle wording is not aberrant, it is the wording of this version (and the two Portal versions that this wording was taken from) that is aberrant. This card was originaly printed in Legends, and that is the version Oracle look to when deciding on this cards official wording. And the Legends version says this card searches for a "basic land".

Unlike Explosive Vegetation or Rampant Growth, this doesn't cause the land to come into play tapped. This could be relevant, you know.

Awkward color fixing for 3 CMC isn't really that useful, but you know, at least it's not useless.
