Naturalize is better in most cases, though this has the advantage of a lower CMC and preventing the artifact from regenerating. However, Oxidize has the same advantages without the associated life gain effect.

Really only useful as a bizarre combo piece these days, or if you're playing EDH and have some odd, pressing need for more than one 1CMC artifact destruction spell.
